The purpose of this position is to ensure sustainable high availability services for Service Transition, Intake and Release Management. This position represents the accountable leader to the business application owners and interfaces with multiple support and engineering teams to ensure seamless delivery and support for the business customer.

This position consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to the applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable).


The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the following functions, Intake and assessment (Performs all intake into SD/ST/SO), Release Strategy and Planning, Mission: (Management of release strategy, policies and integrated release calendars. Making sure OS, firmware, storage and other implementations are sequenced correctly. Distributes pool of SMEs. Risk management through coordination of implementations. Influences application teams to adopt enterprise release strategy or in some cases drives push of the strategy.) on behalf of the infrastructure management organization. This includes presenting current metrics and initiatives as well as developing new and appropriate metrics to ensure delivery and support of these systems is as efficient and consistent as possible.

Leads the industry best-practice methodologies to deliver world-class availability improvement findings and remediation plans. Strategically engages with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Planning, and Infrastructure Engineering to ensure systems, and applications conform to meet business requirements for sustainable availability.

Leads large and small scale remediation planning by understanding causes and potential performance risks and gains from remediation, sharing in-depth understanding verbally and in writing, collaborating with Infrastructure Management Group and leadership, and creating remediation plans. Remediation plans may include corrective development standards, testing, physical security, skills redefinition, processes, methodologies, etc.

Optimizes workforce capacity through assessment and creation of gap-closure and best practice strategies, elevating technical and leadership competencies of staff, and effectively leading transformational change. Leads and empowers a workforce of approximately 20 highly technical staff.

Creates and manages operating and capital budgets aligned with business goals and objectives.

Ensures effective relationships with internal clients, colleagues, workforce and vendors.

Ensures that functional team and team deliverables maintain legal and procedural compliance.

Demonstrates autonomous, executive decision making and tremendous influencing skills in a highly matrixed environment.

B.S. degree in computer science or related technical field. Master’s level graduate degree and/or M.B.A. preferred. Work experience must include at least 10 years in IT leadership positions, with proven success in a senior leadership position leading teams of highly skilled architects and/or engineers within a large scale high-availability IT operation with 24/7/365 accountability, including large-scale data center operations, telecommunications network infrastructures, platforms and storage infrastructures and field support staff. Must demonstrate in-depth technical knowledge across complex multiple technologies and disciplines. Must have clear and demonstrated experience using ITIL best practices. Proficiency in either Six Sigma, TQM, or Kepner-Tregoe methodologies is required. Prefer Fortune 500 company experience with an excellent track-record in processes and results.

The programs developed and directed by this office contribute to consolidation of both hardware and software, which reduces year over year spend in lease/depreciation as well as maintenance and support costs. This is based on a full understanding of the applications design and implementation as well as vendor support.
